Christi Piper grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, but has called Colorado her home for the last ten years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Bachelor of Science in English, both from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR, in 20010. After a year off, she then went on to get her Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Washington, Seattle (2013). Being a preschool teacher from 2010-2013 gave her an initial desire to be a children’s librarian; experiences with medical librarianship in grad school led her to volunteer here at the Health Sciences Library. Her time as a volunteer, analyzing the Strauss-Wisneski Indigenous and Integrative Collection in the autumn of 2013, convinced her to shift her career focus.
In April, Christi took the position of Reference Librarian in the Education and Reference Department. She is working on improving our LibGuides and Guides on the Side – developing training and tutorials for users, to support teaching and reference. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, baking (anything to make the sweet tooth happy!), and is trying her hand at gardening for the first time this year. She and her husband like to travel somewhere new each year. 2015’s destination of choice: Alaska!
