Religion and Evolution: Why they still haven’t reconciled

Join us for a discussion with Dr. Jeff Kieft, SOM Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics, on Tuesday May 3rd, 2011 at Noon in the Reading Room of the Health Sciences Library.  This discussion is taking place in conjunction with an exhibit about Charles Darwin that is currently on display in the library’s Gallery.
Many mainstream religions have accepted the truth of evolution, and the world’s most trusted scientific bodies have stated that there is no inherent conflict between faith and evolutionary theory. Despite this apparent reconciliation, the battle lines are still drawn and they remain focused on ‘God vs. Darwin’.  Why?  Dr. Kieft has spoken about evolutionary theory and taught its importance at churches and community forums in Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri.  In this presentation he will discuss some of his observations, experiences, and thoughts as to why the argument continues.
