Writing Center reopens in the Information Commons
The Writing Center recently reopened for business in the information commons of the library. HSL is happy to host and partner with the center, offering AMC students a convenient location set in the context of research and discovery of the library. Located in the Information Commons of Health Sciences Library, the Writing Center is just behind the south commons and a short walk to the library’s new coffee machine. Coffee is known for it properties to assist research and writers late night, so it is fitting that coffee complements the first floor and the staff of our Writing Center partners–see center’s fall 2011 hours.
The Writing Center provides one-on-one assistance to undergraduate and graduate students from the Anschutz Medical Campus. In the center, consultants offer help with writing of all kinds, including essays, proposals, dissertations, resumes, and scholarship applications. Justin Bain, director of the center, emphasizes that the center’s services are fluid across campuses, meaning that Anschutz Medical Campus students can visit the Denver Campus Center (and vice versa). In addition the center offers 22 office hours at the Health Sciences Library. While the center does accept walk-ins as availability allows, they primarily operate on an appointment basis on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Please make appointments (and see their availability) online (click on the online schedule to the right to get started).
The center provides an excellent summary of services available and tailored for AMC campus students on their webpages. Users of HSL can always ask for information about the center and other services at our customer service desk in the commons. Just ask!
From consultations with librarians to access to books and other materials around the State through Prospector services, the Health Sciences Library has a service for you. Speak with our customer service staff at the main desk anytime about service options and offerings.
